【Internal Affairs】

On November 16-19, the North Korean media reported that Kim Jong Un watched a “combat flight contest” of the flight commanding officers of the Air and Anti-Aircraft Force, supervised an airborne landing exercise by sharpshooter sub-units of the Air and Anti-Aircraft Force, and provided field guidance at the August 25 Fishery Station of the Korean People’s Army and the Tongchon Fisheries Company.

On November 19, the North Korean media reported that Premier Kim Jae Ryong gave field guidance at the Hungnam Fertilizer Complex and the Myonggan Chemical Factory.

On November 20, the North Korean media reported that Pak Pong Ju, vice chairman of the State Affairs Commission, provided field guidance at the Kim Jong Suk Pyongyang Textile Mill, the Kim Chaek Iron and Steel Complex, the Chongjin Steel Plant, the Komalsan Atlantic Salmon Offshore Fish Farm, and a lab for egg-laying chickens under the poultry engineering institute.

On November 21, the North Korean media praised the people for having a good harvest this past year despite unfavorable weather and encouraged them to direct all their energy into preparing for farming next year.

 

【Inter-Korean Affairs】

On November 21, the North Korean media reported that Kim Jong Un formally rejected an invitation from South Korean President Moon Jae-in to attend the South Korea-ASEAN special summit.

 

【Foreign Affairs】

On November 17, the North Korean media reported that a spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a statement, condemned the recent passage of a United Nations resolution on North Korea’s human rights.

On November 18, the North Korean media reported that Kim Kye Gwan, advisor to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a statement, demanded that the US end its hostile policy against the DPRK first in response to US President Trump’s tweet that hinted at another meeting with Kim Jong Un.

On November 19, the North Korean media reported that Kim Yong Chol, chairman of the Korea Asia-Pacific Peace Committee, in a statement, emphasized that the US should withdraw its hostile policy on North Korea first in response to the US secretary of Defense’s remarks that the US decided to suspend the air drill with South Korea while calling on the North to come back to the negotiations without any conditions.

On November 19, the North Korean media reported that Kim Myong Gil, a roving ambassador at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a Q&A session with KCNA reporters, flatly refused any mention of the “December talks between North Korea and the US.”

On November 20, the North Korean media denounced the US pressure on South Korea regarding the expiration of the General Security of Military Intelligence Agreement (GSOMIA).

On November 21, the North Korean media reported that DPRK First Vice Minister Choe Son Hui had a meeting with her Russian counterpart in Moscow.

On November 21, the North Korean media reported that DPRK First Vice Minister Choe Son Hui met with the Russian Foreign Minister.
