Internal Affairs

On May 18, the North Korean media emphasized that party lines should be upheld and policies carried through.

On May 19, the North Korean media called on the people to use standard language or the Pyeongyang ‘cultured language’, instead of foreign loanwords and hodgepodge language.

On May 19, the North Korean media reported that Premier Kim Jae Ryong gave field guidance at Tanchon Port, the Tanchon Smeltery, the Hungnam Fertilizer Complex, the Kowon and Sudong coal mines, the Ryongsong Machine Complex, the February 8 Vinalon Complex, the Hungnam Electrode Factory, the Hamhung Branch of the State Academy of Sciences, the Hungnam Pharmaceutical Factory, and the Sangsan Co-op Farm in Kowon County, South Hamgyeong Province.

On May 20, the North Korean media underscored that localization of products is an important political project that aims to instill the people with national pride and strong patriotism.

On May 21, the North Korean media underlined the program for education by influence of positive examples.

On May 22, the North Korean media emphasized ideological education to inculcate young people in the essence of Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism.

On May 22, the North Korean media underscored that the North is actively protecting biodiversity and fulfilling obligations as a signatory to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity on the occasion of International Day for Biological Diversity.

 

Inter-Korean Affairs

On May 18, the North Korean media announced a statement calling for the South to get to the bottom of the May 18 Democratization Movement and to punish those responsible.

On May 20, the North Korean media criticized the South Korean military for lax discipline.

 

Foreign Affairs

On May 19, the North Korean media reported that a spokesperson for the General Association of Koreans in China announced a statement titled “Japan’s reckless anti-DPRK campaign will only bring ruin.”

On May 20, the North Korean media condemned Japan’s military buildup including the Japanese Air Self Defense Forces’ plan to introduce 17 Ospreys, vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) aircraft.
