【Internal Affairs】

On August 26 and 28, the North Korean media reported that Kim Jong Un presided over the 17th meeting of the Political Bureau and the 5th meeting of the Executive Policy Council of the 7th Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK) and took stock of the damage inflicted by a typhoon in South Hwanghae Province.

On August 22, the North Korean media called on the people to devote themselves to the preparations for the 8th Congress of the WPK.

On August 25, the North Korean media extolled the leader of building the Korean People’s Army (KPA) on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of Songun (military-first) Day and emphasized the importance of carrying on his spirit.

 

On August 25, the North Korean media reported that Vice Chairman Pak Pong Ju of the WPK Central Committee and Premier Kim Tok Hun gave field guidance at the construction site for building carbon 1 chemical industry.

On August 26, the North Korean media called on officials to be faithful, responsible, and dedicated to minimize damage from natural disasters including heavy rainfall and strong wind in all sectors of the economy.

On August 27, the North Korean media underscored cooperation between units for economic construction to achieve prosperity by self-reliance before the 8th Congress of the WPK.

On August 27, the North Korean media reported that the North is developing an intelligent medical service system for Pyongyang General Hospital.

 

【Inter-Korean Affairs】

On August 27, the North Korean media condemned South Korean lawmakers for opposing the passage of a law prohibiting the scattering of anti-North Korea leaflets.

 

【Foreign Affairs】

On August 24, the North Korean media reported that a spokesperson for the Association of Korean Victims of Forcible Drafting and Their Bereaved Families demanded Japan’s apology and compensation on the 75th anniversary of the sinking of the Ukishima Maru, a Japanese naval transport vessel, and the killing of the Korean people onboard.
