On August 6-7, the North Korean media reported that Kim Jong Un
presided over the 4th meeting of the Executive Policy Council of the
7th Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK) and gave
field guidance in the flood-hit areas of Daecheong-ri in Eunpa County,
North Hwanghae Province.
On August 2, the North Korean media reported that the Ministry of
Land and Marine Transport is stepping up its efforts to completely
contain the novel coronavirus.
On August 3, the North Korean media commented on the speech by Kim
Jong Un at the 6th National Conference of War Veterans and emphasized
the spirit of defending the country.
On August 3, the North Korean media reported that the North locked
down Gaeseong and increased medical check-ups and surveillance for
Gaeseong citizens.
On August 4, the North Korean media reported that Pak Pong Ju, vice
chairman of the Central Committee of the WPK, visited Nampo Port to
check the overall progress in the effort to contain the epidemic and
provided field guidance at the Taean Heavy Machine Complex, the
Taekyong Fishery Enterprise and the Ryongnam Ship Repair Factory in Nampo.
On August 4, the North Korean media reported that the North made a
decision on the dangerous situation in Gaeseong to shift from the
state emergency anti-epidemic system to the maximum emergency system
and emphasized the importance of having the right point of view of the
corona crisis in order to completely prevent the inflow and further
spread of the virus while calling on the people to guard against
slacking off and to unconditionally obey to the command and control of
the central headquarters for the emergency anti-epidemic effort.
On August 5, the North Korean media underscored that the corona
crisis effort is a nationwide anti-epidemic campaign in which all
people should participate with a sense of ownership, calling for the
people to devote themselves to the campaign.
On August 6, the North Korean media reported that the ministries and
central agencies guaranteed the delivery of goods and supplies for Gaeseong.
On August 7, the North Korean media called on the people to prevent
farmlands from becoming flooded during the rainy season.
