military parade celebrating the 8th Congress of the Workers’ Party of
Korea (WPK); the observers to the 8th Party Congress; and guard,
security, and defense personnel on January 17 and with publication and
printing workers; new Cabinet members; and the newly-elected members
of the 8th Party central leadership body on January 19.
On January 17, the North Korean media reported that there was an
army-people rally in Pyeongyang.

watched a performance celebrating the 8th Party Congress.
On January 18, the North Korean media reported that the 14th Supreme
People’s Assembly (SPA) held its fourth session.
On January 18, the North Korean media reported that the 14th SPA
appointed the members of the Cabinet and the director of the Central
Public Prosecutors Office at its fourth session.
On January 18, the North Korean media reported that the 14th SPA
made a report on cabinet work and state budget at its fourth session.
On January 22, the North Korean media encouraged the people to
overcome difficulties by “strengthening our own power and our own
self-reliant capacity.”
